Get Search back to the Start Menu in Vista

Ever since Vista Service Pack 1 was installed the Search box was removed from the Start Menu.? Here’s a way to get it back. Not in the exact place but close.

Lets start by creating a shortcut for Search on the desktop.

  1. Press the Windows key on your keyboard along with the F key to open the Windows Search box.

  2. Left click the magnifying glass and drag it to your desktop.

  3. Now if you want you can rename the shortcut by right clicking it and choosing rename.

  4. Now you can leave it right here on your desktop if you like or if you want it back in the Start menu. Left click the icon and drag it over the Start Orb until the Start menu opens then drag it to the left side of the menu and let go. Now Search? is back to the Start menu.
